“It’s About the Animals!”

It’s that time again! Hurray! We get to gather and share our love and concern for our animals and plan new ways of assisting them.

We’ve got some exciting ideas and plans for October. I can hardly wait to share some of them, so be sure to come to our August 7th meeting.

BUMPER STICKERS -- Did you notice the bumper sticker above?

Thanks to Dnitra Ayers, we have Paws Across Hawai’i bumper stickers! A great way to get our web site out there.  They will be distributed at our next meeting so be sure to get one.

NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting will be Saturday, August 7th, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Naalehu Community Center.  Real easy to find. Look for the Theater. It’s behind it. There will also be signs about. From Kona it on your right from Volcano it is on your left. Meeting Flyer Attachment:  I’ve attached a August meeting flyer that you can download, copy and post around your area.  Remember to tell a friend, carpool. Make it a fund outing.

Please bring a pupu to share if you like.

Josi Morgan the new Executive Director of the Hawaii Island Humane will be our guest speaker. Come and meet and support this lovely lady. We all know the tremendous challenge she has taken on. I met with her yesterday, and she is very excited about working with Paws Across Hawai’i.  She sees our potential too!

We will also be planning our next meeting, which will be October 23rd. It will be held in Volcano (where we started a year ago) during Love-A- Dog Month. This meeting will be unique. Let me just say will be all about fun, dogs, and you. Intrigued? Come find out all about it. It will be a doggone good time!

We will then have a time for food and networking (always important). We’ll regroup and recap all the events that took place during June for our Love-A-Cat Month Project. Refining for next time. You can also visit our web site to see all the participation by veterinarians, business support and groups.  Super for our first project!

We will then talk about our new Humane Education Program! We will be creating a Keiki Corner on our website. We will have games, activities and monthly contests for our kids. This program has great potential for getting humane education out to our keiki in a fun easy way. Thanks to an anonymous donor, we will have Love-A-Dog Month buttons which we plan on using as incentives for our kids to visit our web site.

In case you missed our May 15th meeting, here is a  recap

Our May meeting was really fun.We had new faces, which are always welcome.  We so enjoyed being at Tasha Ohana Animal Sanctuary. Now we know why Laurie smiles all the time. We had several cats and dogs as part of our audience. They really looked interested in what we were planning. We had our mini-review, introductions and announcement time, Amy Lannan shared her words of wisdom and Steve walked us through our new website. We then had a short food break and regrouped. We finalized our June: Love-A-Cat Month plans. Buttons, brochures, Compassion Kitty banks and New Parent Guides were also distributed.

Hope you can make our next meeting! Bring your ideas and enthusiasm.

There is much that needs to be done. Remember “They Need Our Help!”
